Johnny Lycan and the Anubis Disk by Wayne Turmel
Today I am reviewing a book by Black Rose Author, Wayne Turmel. A few years ago I reviewed Wayne's Book Acre's Orphan, a historical fiction novel set during the Crusade's and was really interested to read his new book, an Urban Fantasy thriller. Talk about polar opposites! Can he pull it off? Here are a few details about the book:

My Review:
Reviewers Note: I was given a free copy of the book by the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.
The Plot in brief: No spoilers. Johnny Lycan shares his human body with Shaggy, a werewolf. He was born that way and over the years has learned the hard way how to control the inner monster. But sometimes a wolf's gotta be a wolf. As Johnny admits, he's not the brightest blub but he's learned to harness the power of the beast and put it to good use. Johnny is a one man retrieval business, you lost it, someone's taken it, hire him to get it back. He'll bring along Shaggy and together they get the job done.
The Character: Turmel serves up a slate of fantastic characters: Johnny, his BFF and business partner Bill and Bill's Gypsy (don't let her hear you call her that) Grandmother. Johnny's dubious employer and his nurse side kick do their best to entertain. They are funny, smartly drawn and will suck you into their world. I really enjoyed the main character, Johnny and his werewolf alter ego. Not your typical lunar transforming lycanthrope, the author gives us a fresh take on what it means to be half man half wolf.
The Writing: Told in first person, the writing is clean and crisp. No words are wasted as the story barrels across the page. This one is all action. This author knows how to spin a great yarn.
Overall: I really enjoyed this book. Turmel's leap from historical fiction to fantasy is a howling success! The plot and characters are entertaining. While there is violence, it's appropriate to the story and not too graphic. I really couldn't find anything not to like and I look forward to reading more Johnny Lycan adventures.
Recommendation: I highly recommend this book to lovers of urban fantasy, werewolf stories, mystery/thriller tales.
Rating: I give this book: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐5 Stars and the Readers Choice Award!
